About Us - PACE

Our Story

PACE is a pioneering organisation within the School of Design. Our School's roots trace back to 1874 when the Yorkshire textile industry recognised the need for technical training and education for cloth workers to ensure local industries remained competitive amidst advancing global innovation. This gave rise to a textiles department at the Yorkshire College of Science, which has since grown from strength to strength and is today recognised worldwide as the School of Design, University of Leeds.

Over one and a half centuries later, the School of Design continues to elevate industry practices worldwide through academic research and professional education. Establishing PACE is another step towards strengthening the collaboration between academia and industry, preparing businesses to meet the next wave of challenges, upskill professionals, and evolve with industry advancements.
