Cohort-Advanced Courses FAQs

What are PACE Advanced Courses?

Close Icon

PACE Advanced Courses are comprehensive, cohort-based learning programs designed for professionals who want to deepen their expertise. These courses combine online learning with interactive webinars, live Q&A sessions, assessments, and academic feedback.

What does ‘cohorted’ mean?

Close Icon

A cohorted course means you’ll be learning as part of a group (or “cohort”) of professionals who start and progress through the course together. This model encourages collaboration, peer learning, and community-building throughout the course. You’ll engage in group discussions, share insights, and develop your knowledge alongside others

What platform is used to deliver the online course?

Close Icon

All Advanced Courses are hosted on a secure, user-friendly learning platform with access to course materials, webinars, and assessments.

What level of qualification do these courses offer?

Close Icon

These courses are designed to provide the equivalent of a Level 7 qualification, which aligns with the UK master’s level framework. While they do not offer academic credit, the academic depth, practical focus, and structured assessment mean they closely reflect the intellectual demands and learning outcomes of a traditional master’s degree module.

What does Equivalent to Level 7 mean?

Close Icon

Advanced course content and the assessment are equivalent to a 15-credit Level 7, Master’s module, not a full master’s Programme/degree (180 credits).  Upon successfully completing the Advanced Course and its assessment, you would be awarded a grade of either pass, merit or distinction. In line with master’s level, for this course, a pass grade is equivalent to a mark of 50-59%, a merit 60-69%, a distinction of 70% and above.

Upon successful completion of the assessment, learners will receive a certificate of completion from PACE at the University of Leeds. A transcript is normally associated with a full master’s programme (180 credits, comprising multiple modules). For PACE Advanced courses, we are able to provide confirmation of the topics, content, assessment, and hours that have been studied. Please note that the award does not directly transfer into credits towards Master’s degree study.

Do I get a certificate?

Close Icon

Yes. Upon successful completion of the course and its assessment, you’ll receive a digital certificate from PACE at the University of Leeds, along with a shareable digital badge that you can add to your LinkedIn profile or professional portfolio.

Both the certificate and badge will be emailed to you, making it easy to showcase your achievement and share it with your network.

Is a transcript provided?

Close Icon

As this is not a full Master’s programme, a traditional transcript is not issued. However, if requested, we can provide written confirmation of your studied content, assessment, and learning hours.

How are advanced courses taught?

Close Icon

Our courses are delivered through online flexible learning, supported by optional live webinars.

You’ll engage with various learning materials, including readings, videos, interactive activities, and knowledge checks, to enrich your experience and reinforce your understanding throughout the course.

Upon completion, you’ll gain access to our PACE alumni network and have opportunities to attend exclusive on-campus events.

How much time will I need to dedicate?

Close Icon

PACE Advanced Courses are designed to be flexible while maintaining the academic depth of master’s-level study. You should plan to dedicate approximately 10–12 hours per week throughout the course.

The course is structured as follows:

  • Weeks 1–12: Learning Phase
You’ll work through six structured units, released every two weeks. These include readings, videos, interactive tasks, webinars, and knowledge checks to support your learning and engagement.
  • Weeks 13–14: Assessment Phase
You’ll complete and submit your final assessment, applying what you’ve learned in a meaningful and practical context.

This format allows you to manage your time effectively while progressing with a cohort of peers and engaging with high-level academic content.

What happens if I miss a live session?

Close Icon

Any key learning materials, summaries, or follow-up resources will be available on the course platform afterwards. This ensures you can still access the essential content and stay up to date, even if you’re unable to attend a session in real time.

If you have questions about what was covered, you can also connect with your tutors or peers through the discussion forums.

Are there any specific Technology requirements?

Close Icon

Basic technology requirements include a reliable internet connection and access to a laptop or desktop computer capable of running a modern web browser.

Some courses may have additional requirements, such as specific software or specifications. Full details will be provided on the relevant course page where this applies.

Are Advanced Courses assessed?

Close Icon

Yes. Each course includes assessments designed to consolidate your learning and demonstrate your understanding. These may include written reports, case studies, project work, or reflective tasks. Specific details are outlined on individual course pages. Assessment is an integral part of the experience and helps ensure that learning outcomes are clearly met.

Is there any 1-2-1 mentoring or support?

Close Icon

While the courses don’t include formal 1-2-1 mentoring, you’ll receive personalised academic feedback on your assessments and have access to ongoing support from your tutors.

Tutors are available via email and hold regular online office hours, ask questions, discuss course content, or seek guidance on your progress. This ensures you have access to expert support throughout your learning journey.

How do I interact with my cohort?

Close Icon

You’ll connect with your cohort through the course’s online discussion boards and live webinar sessions. These spaces are designed to encourage conversation, idea-sharing, and collaborative learning with peers from a range of professional backgrounds.

Engaging with your cohort is a key part of the experience, helping you build a supportive network and deepen your understanding through different perspectives.
